This robot vacuum performs well on both floors with no carpet and carpets with a low pile. It is able to take large objects and doesn't lose suction as rapidly as other models do, and it can even remove pet hair without much difficulty. It does have a hard time with high-pile or plush carpet, but iRobot claims it will get better in the future with new models.
The S9+ features a new design from iRobot that focuses on improving edge and corner cleaning. It's the first Roomba that has a flat-fronted D-shaped design. The company hopes that this will allow it hug furniture and walls. It's a nice change from the hockey puck-like design of robovacs, but we found it to be only marginally better than circular models.

As for the mopping system, I was amazed by its ability to scrub hard dirt off my floors. The two mopping modes that it has, which are less aggressive than the high-powered ones, produce little noise, allowing you to work or watch television without interruption. This feature is beneficial for those who have different flooring in different areas of your house or when you have to frequently get rid of clutter like toys, clothes, and books. The robot vacuum was also one of the best performers in my tests cleaning up debris from both carpets as well as hardwood floors in the first attempt.
