Article 1. Name

The name of the Society shall be The Japan Association for Ethiopian Linguistics (JAEL).

Article 2. Purpose

The purpose of the Society shall be to promote academic research on the Ethiopian languages and to contribute to the advancement of the study of language.

Article 3. Activities

The Society shall undertake the following.

  1. To issue its annual journal Studies in Ethiopian Languages (SEL) (ISSN: 2187-1388)
  2. To carry out other necessary activities.
Article 4. Secretariat

The Secretariat shall be housed at c/o Inui Laboratory, The Department of Linguistics, The Faculty of Humanities, Yamaguchi University, 1677-1 Yoshida, Yamaguchi-shi, Japan.

Article 5. Membership

This Society shall be composed of members who have enthusiasm for the study of Ethiopian languages and accept this Constitution.

Article 6. Fiscal Policy

The funds of the Society shall be collected as membership dues, donations and other financial resources.

Article 7. Amendments to the Constitution

Amendments to the Constitution shall be approved by a majority of two-thirds of the members of the Society.

Appendix

This Constitution shall be in force from March 31, 2012.
